Ordering from North American motorsports
« on: September 08, 2009, 12:18:09 pm »
Hi, know a couple guys from here have ordered from namotorsports.com before and was just wondering whether it is royal mail who deliver the item to your house?

Basically on my online tracking account it says delivery was attempted on the 5th of sept, but there was no card or note put through my door saying so?

Went to my local royal mail parcel collection point and they said it has nothing to do with them, but then royal mail are useless.

So any info would be appreciated as I need this bit pretty desperatedly.

Just thinking out loud but when I have ordered from the USA the normal delivery firms are Fedex, USPS (which use Parcel Force over here) or DHL.

USPS is the sender so it must be parcel force who have my package. Thanks dude, gonna go down to their depot and see if they have it. Just really annoyed that they never put anything through my door saying they tried to deliver it.

Put your USPS tracking number into the Parcel force website and that will give you your answer..

@ Poverty,

I think you'll find that it's ParcelForce as opposed to Royal Mail for goods from overseas.

Royal Mail (your local Postie) will leave a card if you're not at home so you can collect from your local depot later the same day.

ParcelForce dealing with foreign post are quite a different animal! They'll send you a snailmail letter informing you they have your goods and requiring you to pay both any UK taxes and their handling charge before they will release them. My nearest one is 50 miles away (100 miles round trip) - A bureaucratic nightmare. Aren't they supposed to be the same organisation?! :fighting:

Goods which can take as little as 24hrs to reach the UK are then usually held up for about 2 weeks in the UK's archaic system and waiting for the feckin taxmen to calculate their unearned income.

Spot on!

Your parcel has gone through customs. After it has cleared customs you should get a letter from parcel force (takes a few days) telling you that they have your parcel at your local depot and how much you have to pay to get it.

Went to parcelforce depot paid the tax and got my item. They said they have sent out a letter saying that they have my item and duty to pay so suppose that will arrive at some point.

I just thought it was odd as I ordered the item well over a week ago and according to the shipper should only take 2 days.

Anyway all sorted now, thanks guys.

....Glad it's sorted. It can be very frustrating - I've waited several weeks before now just because customs had a backlog.

yeah tell me about it, its very frustratating, especially as I have my car booked in for some mods, and the part I was waiting for was to be done at the same time.
