Auto headlight & Xenon's

Guys, have factory xenons, and recently started using the auto headlights, as I like the "coming home" function. Just wondering as I notice the lights coming on and off more while driving, will this damage the bulb/xenons more?

do you need auto lights on for the coming home function? on the Audi you activate the coming home function separately from the auto lights

in regards to damaging the lights, i think it's highly unlikely as many high end cars have xenons with auto lights as standard
