Finally got one

Picked up my new '06 GTI about 10 days ago, haven't had a chance to post since then!

Totally stock apart from the wheels have been 'charcoaled'. 18"s are the only option I think! Complete poverty spec but I couldn't resist because its only done 36k from new Look much better in the flesh

A few things to sort - its booked into Sunderland VW so they can have a look at the arches which are just starting to bubble (fingers crossed they replace the wing cos there happens to be a dent in it!) and need the alloys refurbing.

Got hold of a genuine PDC kit for next to nowt that'll be going on soon, seriously missing cruise control from my Audi so I'll be retrofitting that as well, going to go RNS510 in the new year too. Keeping it nice and OEM+ I think 

p.s. speaking of cruise, is there any way I can find my steering wheel control module version without ripping the dash apart?

Manual, DSGs are great but just not for me :) Was thinking of switching to 17s but the grey 18s have really grown on me

Thanks for the the link, I am hopeful especially as I've caught it in the very early stages. I didn't even notice it until I took it into a bodyshop today to see about getting that dent taken out and the bloke had a good look for me, he couldnt believe it on a 36k car...

The bloke at VW was pretty helpful, he wanted it booked in for a proper inspection but he told me VW have been 'pretty good' with people claiming for it in his experience. My appointment isnt until Dec 17 though!

that may count in your favour on the inspection front as rust will only get worse!

welcome to the forum ..lot of the mods can be retro fitted and  Ed who does most of it is doing a few cars at mine in Richmond if there is any thing you need doing

Unless you've got access to plenty tools, your best bet is to take up the advice offered above and get Ed to fit your cruise in Richmond, it will be the cheapest and quickest way - it could be all done for the weekend!

Additionally, you could have the looms pre fitted for your pending RNS510 at the same time leaving an easy exchange when you find a unit!

Undecided whether to retrofit myself or get someone to do it tbh - I did it myself in my last Audi but it was a 4 hour job, not particularly difficult but a right chew on... whats the best way of contacting Ed?
