We need a new hamster.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Me too! its really annoying but don't want to leave for another forum to be honest. Why is it like this? is there too much data on here clogging it all up and it needs a good cleanup, too many unused accounts etc? Or is it because or poor servers or whatnot? I don't have a clue about computers at all but if we need to update hardware or online space (i have no idea how it all works) then i think a manditory charge to all users of lets say £2 - £5 for an account will get a decent sum of money up which im sure all users will be happy to pay and at the same time will clear out all the unused accounts etc? Or will this not work in the slightest and im a bit of an idiot for suggesting?  :drinking:

This has been ongoing for a little while, basically the site is too busy for its own good and when too many people are trying to navigate/post the server CPU simply cannot process the requests in time therefore creating time outs? Needs an upgrade on the hosting package I would I assume but unfortunately its a little up in the air as to whom takes responsibility for it. I agree that funds could be pooled I don't think its a lack of money and more a lack of time and effort, unfortunately SteveP who would normally handle this has had a change in work commitments and is no longer able to support the forum in its running and as of yet no one has stepped up to the plate.

It could just need an upgrade to the account that the hosting company may provide...  Tagadab / Claranet.

Looks like it's running on Windows server 2003, which is probably their basic hosting package, which always have a CPU quota that usually cannot be upgraded.

However if it's running on their VPS then it could just need the money throwing at it for more resources CPU / RAM etc...
