GT Sport 140k miles Safe to remap?

Hi Guys,

Had to sell my GTI and get a GT Sport Diesel (140) for work - Which sucks...but anyway

Do you think its safe to remap a car with 140,000 miles on the clock? Im thinking the main problem would be the turbo letting go but I've had that replaced with a new recon unit and a new fuel pump fitted within the first month of motoring as they both broke pretty much as soon as I brought it...a very expensive month!!

A car should be fine to remap at any mileage (in theory!)

As the car goes up through the miles without remap, the parts that may fail get replaced naturally i.e. clutch, turbo, hoses, seals, exhaust, etc.

This is no different to a car on 80k miles or 140k.

See my old build thread for some of the mods and remap I carried out to my previous 140 TDI, at 80k miles all the way past 100k.  :happy2:

Check your boost hoses at that mileage they'd probably fail soon after.
The 2.0 140 turbos are very weak anyway.

Where did you buy the replacement?

Spoke to a VW tech when I had mine mapped - VW dont class the 2.0 diesel as run-in until beyond 100K. So you may end up with a little more power.
Ditto that on the turbo - I was recommended by the guy who did my map to make sure I change the oil every 8k & upgrade by oil feed & return pipes (bought from darkside developments and fitted the day after the remap was done) - Hoses im saving for their hard pipe kit right now and the S3 intercooler upgrade!

Now done 10K since remap - car goes like a train (when its not trying to set itself on fire!) - smoke is quite bad, but that could be because I've got a straight through on it!

Hey Polo, do you know if Darkside stil sell their Turbo pipes? Can't find them on the website. I'm looking to remap my 170 TDi and would like to uprate the hoses also. Could get the Forge set at £160 but Darkside are normally a bit cheaper and better.

Any info you have would be appreciated.

These are the 2 oil feed/returns i bought & are already fitted:-


Got them off ebay for about £90 ages ago.

Saving for these:-
