Cosmetic advice re RCD 510
« on: October 30, 2013, 06:03:20 pm »
Hey everyone,

After doing a bit of research on the forums and taking the plunge I purchased an RCD 510 dab unit of eBay for £280 (bit steep I know) but it was stated to have come out of a brand new VW. Im basically looking for a bit of advice with regards to people's opinion on what I should do really.

The unit arrived later that week and it looks like whoever removed the unit must have levered a screwdriver to remove the top trim above the unit or something and made two dents into the top edge of the head unit to my frustration. The seller doesn't have any other units available from his supplier and has offered me £50 off the sale price if i still want the unit, or a full refund. I'm a bit of a perfectionist with regards to my car's appearance and know this would bug me if I installed the unit with those dents. It seems a long shot I know, but does anyone know of a way to repair cosmetic damage like this or if it is even possible? Or do you think it's best for me to just return the unit and keep my eyes peeled for another one to come available?

Any advice will be much appreciated :D

IMO you'll never be completely happy with that unit so return it.
Without traction power is nothing!

Cheers guys appreciate the replies. Think you're right and best to just return it and keeps eyes open... Bit of a shame but probably the smart choice!

On eBay, but it was a genuine item, and apparently only used once before it was taken out and the car was sold..
I don't know how true that part is, but it's definitely genuine, and mint condition
Just keep an eye out, I'm sure something will come up soon haha
