Preventative maintenance before having Stage 1 remap...

Hi all,

I'll keep it simple, I'm looking at having my ED30 remapped in the New Year.  She's nearly on 70,000 miles - what should I consider replacing beforehand?

Off the top of my head I'm thinking DV, perhaps the cam follower? 

Any advice appreciated.

I would definitely check both of them and perhaps check the seals on the intercooler hoses.

Defo check PCV, DV, cam follower and if they haven't been changed for a while: spark plugs

I changed the PCV a few weeks ago. DV is the original one, so I'll do that.

Cam follower is a little beyond my expertise. Rough cost to have it done by a garage?

Plugs are about a year old and have done 10K.

Get a smoke test to make sure there are no leaks in your boost system.

In comparison to changing the PCV, how difficult is it to change the cam follower?  I found the PCV to be pretty easy once I got the air box out of the way.

Whoever you've chosen to do the work for you should be well aware of what needs checking. They should want to avoid putting you or your car at risk and possible reprocussions relating to increased load on mechanical components.

For instance, they may ask about your servicing regime if they are not your servicing agent, they should carry out an ECU scan, check your brakes & tyres. Everything you depend on to be safe and your car to be mechanicaly sound should be reviewed.

If they don't make what you feel are sensible recomendations or observations regarding your car then find another tuning agent.  

Incidentally, you'll be very close to needing a cam belt change by then I would imagine.
