Dsg problem :(
« on: October 31, 2013, 09:26:58 pm »
Ok I have a problem with my mk5 dsg gear box.
Basically when I pull off from stand still, and try accelerate, the car sort of jerks before moving off an then it's fine until the next time I come to a standstill and  try drive off. It's very annoying when pulling off from traffic lights, round abouts and junctions as the car jerks and hesitates before pulling away.
When I pull off and give it alot of gas, the hesitation isn't there at all and car seems fine but I don't always want to launch the car from standstill.
Also when the Car coming to stop while driving, I feel a slight jerk when the box is gearing down.
I thought maybe the gearbox was in need of a service so had that done 2 weeks ago, and that didn't  change anything.
I also had the basic settings reset but done the test drive 2 hours later as ther was alot of traffic at the time.
I thought I'd see if anyone has the same Problem before I end up throwing loads of money to the mechanic and then discovering that it's something else? Iv been quoted 1400 to have the gearbox reconditioned but the mechanic said that was all he cud offer as there ate no fault codes on the gearbox module.

Start with a full Scan with VCDS see if any one is near you on this list and come back with your results!

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html

Start with the cheapest and normally the best "full scan"  :happy2:

Oh gosh that sounds expensive!
I thought maybe a fault code would show up on the transmission module if the mech unit was gone?
Did u have any fault codes showing on yours before the took it in to replace it?

Ok so I didn't mention that on the engine side of the diagnostic it came up with camshaft position sensor (g40) p3007 012295 no signal. I know it sounds dumb but cud this have anything to do with the fault as there were no fault codes on the gearbox module?

Check the connection to the camshaft position sensor. If secure, I would replace it (~£30 from VW) then see if it resolves anything.
Without traction power is nothing!

Doesn't always show, but common symptoms are 1st and Reverse gear slow or hard in change up/down.

Or like someone that's new to driving that not used to using a clutch and kangaroo 'ing violently .

Reverse gear also known to be slow to respond.

Knowing the history of these units, cars that were between late 2005 to mid 2008 were more prown to fail, more so later cars in that time frame.

If you've done, DSG oil and basic settings reset, unfortunately you are into a new Mechs unit.

Yeah sounds like mines is in the early stages, driving threw gears while car is movin is fine, reverse is also good but moving off in first gear from stationary is the jerky problem when the car warms up and when the at is comin to a stop from 3rd to 2nd it makes a slight clunk sound.
Thanks for your help ppl, iv located someone from Bristol who repairs the mechatronic unit for 350 but gona call the dealers and see what kind of bill they have for me lol

This was the symptom I had recently, started off clunking gearing down from 3rd into 2nd, months later I noticed it also started doing it gearing down from 5th into 4th. Replacing the Mechatronics unit didn't solve it for me, replacing the clutch packs did.
