Hissing noise near fuel pump?
« on: December 22, 2013, 02:35:02 pm »
I've noticed for a while a hissing noise when coming from a pipe next to the fuel pump when I turn the engine off.

Its the pipe that comes out of the inlet manifold then splits into two. The noise is faint but when you wiggle the pipe it hisses more at the top where it is circled. Does anyone have any idea what it does and could be? Theres also a slight oil residue around the top of the pipe.

On another note, I've just changed my cam follower…

Much more wear than I was expecting. The car is standard other than an ITG kit and has done 58k.

That's the brake booster hose and carries a negative pressure. I suspect it may have a crack so may be worth changing.

Cheers for that, I'll get a new one ordered in the morning. Does it make a big difference to the brakes?

If it's leaking then your brake pedal efficiency will not be 100% as it's servo assisted.

The hose looks fine...

The connector it goes onto moves about a bit and thats where the oil around so I'm guessing I need a new connector, but it doesn't look like it comes off very easily?
