Wing rust

Having been turned down for a 100% contribution for the fix of my rusty wings, I'm now thinking just replacing the wings. Been looking at some stuff available on eBay. New ones start at around £30-40 unpainted. Painted ones start from around £60+

To save the hassle, I might just do this.

I know the painted stuff can sometimes be a bad match - but I've bought various parts off eBay in the past, which have always turned up as a very good match to the car I bought for at the time.

If I go unpainted, a Bodyshop has quoted me £40 for both wings - but how good is the Vw approved paint match stuff you can buy over the counter? Will it leave a good finish?

Very much depends on colour. If it's silver absolutely get unpainted wings and have them sprayed and blended properly.
It's not so much the paint you buy it's how it's laid down and how it's blended..

Been contemplating this myself for a while... Where have you seen them painted for £60 bud?  Mines black so easier to match.

These come painted to spec. I've used this eBay seller in the past and they are very good.

The painted ones I saw were in fact used, not new. But do a search and there's plenty out there.

How hard would it be to replace the wing DIY? Or would you recommend using someone with Bodyshop experience?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it's a friend of mine.  Cost price and, probably, free sandwiches for a week from my Deli.

They're the dearest example I could find. But, like I said, their quality is spot on. So, if you some peace of mind - go with these guys.
