Few questions!

i want to eventually get a few things for my gti i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction?


Cruise control - is it difficult and expensive to get a oem vw cruise control stalk and fit it? anyone know where i can get it done?

Go from k03 --> k04? Far too expensive? better way to get the power?

If i was to get a the ITG Induction kit (thats still in development) is it recommended to get a remap? I have read that even the standard air intake is enough for a map? So im better getting a better fuel pump and a map? what sort of cost am i looking at for a better fuel pump?

these are long term plans im thinking of but id like to know where im going to start with  :happy2:

I think Awesome (Manchester) can do a cruise control conversion. If you went there it would be worth considering an APR remap because it can be switched by the stalk AFAIK.

Revo is also a very well established and highly rated tuner. Ideally you want a tuner who is very experienced with the 2.0T FSI engines and can look after you longer term.

K03->K04? You're looking at about £3,500 to do it properly with everything thing you need.

It's only advisable to get an aftermarket fuel pump if you have a combination of high flow performance exhaust, high flow tubular intake (such as ITG), and a Stage2 remap rather than a Stage1. The more expensive HPFP (fuel pump) is a new APR but it's considered more durable longer term than the cheaper Autotech/KMD which only upgrades the internals. I don't have direct experience of this but this is what some independent experts say - Others may not agree.

The reason for the HPFP with those mods is that you risk fuel cuts on the stock pump - It's not a guaranteed problem but a definite risk.

But power is useless without traction so there's a whole raft of suspension and handling mods to add to the never ending list - Modding is a very slippery slope!

FYI when getting quotes for the OEM cruise control, it's worth remembering that your local VW should charge about £120 fitted, various aftermarket companies do offer OEM however sometimes the price is alot higher than your dealership for some reason.

it can be that it's combined with a switchable map, but if its not electronically related then you can get it fitted wherever  :innocent:

that sounds interesting, cruise control with a switchable map. Does anyone know what sort of price they charge for that? or anyone had it done? i heard someone on here does it for a number of pennys?

that all well and good but i dont have a ed30 do i!  :P

im going to try a few maps before i buy coz im driving a dsg and i have heard weird things happen haha

Awesome did have an offer on the Cruise control, cant remember the price now, was back in May when I was quoted so may well have finished.

On the K04 question you cant map it as high as the ED30's anyway so I would just aim for Stage 2+ on the K03...should give you some good numbers anyway.

Also consider blueflame exhaust...think a few people have switched from Milltek to that on this forum. Mat_ed30 has and I think Top Cat has. Ask them seen as they have tried and tested both.

Yes check out blueflame, but also the APR RSC exhaust system too - comes down to personal preferences at the end of the day.

....You'll find that the Milltek, Blueflame, APR, exhausts will all sound slightly different on your engine than on the 2.0T FSI.

As Dom says, it's very much down to personal preferences. I would describe them as follows : -

Milltek - Smooth and deep, audible throughout the rev range.

APR SC - Quiet at lower revs but harder and more metallic at higher revs.

Blueflame - Harsher and 'sportier' throughout.

None of them sound boy-racer or chavvy.

Best get yourself to a meet and hope 1 of each turns up...see which you like yourself, best way if your spending some dollar on one anyway and not to be dissapointed.
