Well after buying a reasonably cheap set of BBS monza 18" rims off ebay & getting them poweder coated matt black for £18 each. They have finally been fitted to the car today with the cheap £65 each 225/40/18 Nexen wingaurd sport ( korean) winter tyres.
The car normally runs Pescaras with Dunlop Sport Maxx All round
Temp today 7 to 9 deg c, roads a touch greasy / wet
I was not expecting much at all from the Nexen tyres , was thinking that the car would handle more akin to a captain birdseye trawler ! But thats is not what happened , the ride is slightly more supple / soft but there is still plenty of grip.
Pushed the car on down a few A / B roads and it gripped well , braked well.
In 2nd gear there was wheel spin ,but just the same amount as the Dunlop.
This is a suprise to me as I normally expect tyres from the far east(excluding premium brands) to be worrying at best. But maybe things are improving. 7/10 for these Nexen tyres
Our Ed30 just needs to be able to get to the shops and back over winter for he wife, so these will do just fine. If i was doing alot of miles i would opt for a premium winter tyres as i have done in the past.
Spot whats in the background (did not know it was there when i took the pick)
