Today I went with my friend on a test drive in a MK6 Golf GTI which had park assist fitted. I wasn't aware that it was fitted to any Golfs but I was really impressed.
I can see people's point if they feel that if you can't park then you shouldn't drive but equally I'd prefer that than someone smacking into my car while parking.
For anyone who doesn't know - you switch park assist on, and the put the corresponding indicator on to the side you want to park. It then scans the spaces - once it finds one big enough, you drive past the space, select reverse and the car steers itself into the space with surprising accuracy!
What are people's views on it? Anyone else tried it?
Fantastic gadget - although I think the person who specified the car must not have been very confident parking - it had front and rear parking sensors, park assist and reversing camera!!!
