Recall on ignition coils
« on: November 12, 2013, 04:55:15 pm »
Just got my car booked in for a recall on ignition coils. I'd heard about this in passing but didn't really pay any attention to it, however a friend just got his changed and his car is apparently more responsive. Straight on the phone to local VW and got it booked in.

I say give 'em a call, go through to service and give them your chassis number.

I don't know, mine is a 55 plate and that is the recall. Can't hurt to pop in or give them a call. :)

Pretty sure there's a thread about this already
I had mine done a couple of months ago.

I must've missed it. I found out via a friend.

Was told on the phone my ignition coil recall on my car would be three hours. Wrong. Half an hour and they're giving it a health check then washing it for me. All for free. Excellent service from VW.

I'm not sure to be honest. I know it is the earlier years, but I am not sure about the newer versions.

Ok cheers. If i just took it to my local VW garage would they check  it all out  and let me know anyway? It's under extended warranty.

^^^^ If your cars part of the recall they will know and change them for free, or at least they should.

If it's under warranty then you shouldn't pay anyway. If you can't get to your local garage, give them a call and give them the number that is under your windscreen (visible from outside).

Just spotted this, never knew there was a recall. Gave the dealer a call and got it booked in for Thursday. Nice one  :happy2:

As far as I know just the early GTi's. Could be the Ed30's too. Ring your dealer and ask them :)

The reason I asked is I'm buying a Japanese import car 2008 mk5 GTI . Wondered if it's covered under international recall program or not . Will check it with dealer
