Valeo rears?
« on: November 12, 2013, 08:59:38 pm »
I see that you can buy the valeo led rear lights for the mk5, but I cannot find anything to say whether they light up like the skyline mod?

Sorry if this is a silly question but any help would be much appreciated

They don't come with the Skyline mode stock you have to modify them yourself.

Oh really,

I've looked into doing them but I just haven't got the confidence as I'm rubbish with electrics..

Don't suppose there's anybody on here that modify them?

I keep meaning to do this to my VALEO units, I've got as far as having my outer units coded to give a ring appearance.

You'll need to get the LED's fitted into your inner VALEO units, when that's done you'll need those inner LED clusters wired into the car and then the lot needs coding via VCDS to work. Its a fair bit of work.

Try JLSTuning in Romania for fitting the LED's (but he's known to take his time) or personally I'd go for a chap called Criag (username Buckets) on golfmkv.com who's in Australia who has a great reputation and the quality of his work is top notch.

Have a read through this lot posted on golfmkv.com, explains the mod, gives a guide for the Skyline mod (4 ring/polo look), a wiring guide and other bits......

Should look like this when done..........

The rears look so good in the pic!

But I have researched a lot into doing them but can just seeing them coming out as a bodge haha!

Think I'll just have to keep a lookout for somebody on this forum that can do them as I don't realy fancy dealing overseas!

It's such a good mod though!

Just out of interest how much did you pay for your valeo's?

^^^^ They pop up on here for around £180-£200 ish second hand or you can get them new from Kunzmann (the germen OEM peeps)......

Kunzmann.......

~~ Clicky here ~~

The Valeo clusters have a much better brighter/crisper light output than either OEM unit and best of all they have an indicator function that can actually be seen by peeps behind you.

Not the best vid but gives you an idea.....

[ Invalid YouTube link ]

First thing to do is code out the central light section (reducing the light output to 0%) which gives the single Skyline Ring, its a start.

On mine (sorry, crap iPhone pic, lights are red....honest).....
