Well I'm mainly aiming to get it all running sweet as a nut mechanically wise and also a better environment to be in with the smells from previous owners dogs.

So today, my Odor Bomb arrived, used these quite a lot on my previous car because it used to leak often and caused dampness smells. Very much highly recommend these. For people not knowing these products. It practically eliminates any foul smells in the cars fabrics. Various scents about, just eBay Dakota Odor Bomb. Position in the center of the car for maximum coverage. Push nozzle right down, it locks. Close all doors and leave to settle for 12hrs. Then open all doors to vent it out. Hoover whats left about, its only fluids.



Also turned up today was my drill attachments, circular wire brush type thing, like a bottle cleaner. I wasn't happy with my exhaust being covered in soot and corrosion. So gave it ago and it worked very well. As you can see below. Sunday hoping to get my headlights in, wanted to fit them tomorrow but I've been told Im driving to Bristol for crimbo shopping. Good excused to clean out the exhaust etc etc.

Hi ive just picked up my first gti too, just a question about the coil packs did you just go in and see if your one was due the recall ?? will they no if your car has had it or not if the previous owner had them ?

Im actually jrelous you found one this dirty ! id have been in my element cleaning that lol ! good progress mate , any chance of a diy for the headlights and where you got them from ? need to see how your going to fit the HID kit etc and if the lights are plug and play

Update, didn't realise some of you had replied.

Fitted my wind deflectors, happy with them, went for Team Heko from previous experience with other cars.

Coil-pack Ignition. I went down to my local VW dealer, sat down with the sales staff and they just typed the car reg into their system. Said when would you like to have your car done? I said tomorrow morning thinking I was being cheeky, they said yup 8am! That was it really. Didn't clean it as it was already gleaming from the day before.

I've always said i would like a car that needs TLC and some little issues else I'll be bored with the car.
I've only just fitted my headlights today, did try the other weekend but couldn't get the indicator on N/S to work. Found out today was the bulb holder, the Positive and Negative was touching. Altered that and all is good! Didn't do a DIY as it was pretty simple. I'll do a mini one if you would like me too.

Lights are plug and play, they all work fine with Autolights and See You Home functions too. No errors if you buy the right kit. My friend does the kits.

Front bumper is held on by...

- 5 Torx screws in each arch.
- 9 Torx screws underneath. (Think there is 9? But all are easily seen)
- 4 Torx, 2 normal screws for the grill. (Open bonnet, visible are 2 Torx next to the headlight units. 2 screws under the registration plate then gently pull off grill. 2 Torx screws you see on the ledge)
- Then pull bumper forwards from the arches first and place gently on the floor BUT WATCH YOUR FOG LIGHT CABLE AND HEADLIGHT WASHER JETS THATS STILL CONNECTED. You will have enough room to take out the headlights as the picture will show.

Also fitted my cruise control with some advice help on the coding from Eddie-NL chap on here.
Also fitted a new thermostat, got my VW/Skoda mechanic to do it as I know its a ballache of a job to do.
Also again, new PCV as my one was oily and seized.

I'll get a pic once I got them aligned and adjusted correctly at some point this week. R32 style i went for.

Changed the plastic water housing and Diverter Valve last night. Solved my water leak but couldnt quite pin point where on the housing it was pissing out. But this is my old DV...pics says it all really. New one i think is Rev D, piston one.

Right, little update.

Now need a MK6 engine cover to try and fit. Plastic weld if need be unless someone else has a solution?

Few birthdays and Christmas put a halt on things as expected. My birthday too, the other half made me a cake which I love!



But order myself a new toy as the noise factor from the front was lacking. So bought the Revo High Flow Intake System. Was a straight forward but kinda hard work. Noise has been a massive improvement, can hear the spool up and let off.











Next is Springs and to try and make a engine cover to fit.

Are the headlights Depo? How are you finding the matching for the HID kit to the LED sidelights?
