A thing id like to change about the GTI is the rear plastic valance - i think it really lets the look of the car down!! ive seen a few with colour coded ones and they look mint..wheres the best place to get one?? seen a few on ebay...

Not sure on the paint but the standard valance unpainted from TPS is only about £75, priced one up this week cos mine has a nasty split.

I also looked into removal - looks really easy as it comes away without removing the top half of the bumper.

I got it very cheap as I was the first (or one of) to use that particular company. The real cost comes from the fact it needs high build primer first to cover the black plastic mottled surface. They still sell on eBay (my car is their photo on listing) If you wanted sides and front splitter too you could get a deal - speak to them direct is best.

I fitted myself with my brother.

Getting off with top part on car is pretty easy, but easier to fit new one if top removed too due to the flexing in the centre when trying to apply pressure to clip together

I removed my plastic valance and replaced it with a colour coded edition30 rear valance.  Completely changes the look of the car. As already said it's one of the first mods most of is do.

I've got an edition 30 to go on mine in the next few weeks (soon as my friend can fit me in) so will have a standard GTI rear lower valance for sale. I'm in the north east if thats of any interest to you?

I so wanna do this to my car but don't know how or where. Some people say to sand it down and others say to filler it. So confused.

Both options will work - mine was high build primer and worked perfectly

^ I've had a look at the place you got yours done and they want £245.00 to smooth and paint the rear valence which I think is a bit pricey.

That includes supplying a new bumper too though.

OP would you be interested in the link below? Maybe we can arrange a discount with the seller if we can get a few interested parties.
