Speeding Conviction.... how to plead?
« on: November 14, 2013, 10:51:54 pm »
Ok... someones been a naughty boy. 98/99 in a 70.  So.... options!!!

Plead guilty by post... or show up at the court hearing in a nice suit and try to coerce them into being lenient.

Answers on a post card.  :happy2:

Thanks
Rich

Gutted, 96/7 is the cut off isn't it?
Was it within 14 days?
I'd go suited and booted but I've got 9 points, 12 over 4 years :ashamed:
If you haven't any points I'd plead guilty by post probably.

Can you plead guilty via post with a letter of mitigation and still appear at court?

I personally wouldn't try and justify that speed and just take it on the chin (this comes from experience of being pulled over)
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Sorry maybe the wrong use of the word.  Pled guilty with a "cover letter" telling them of no previous convictions... explaining the situation etc etc

Yes that my thought. Although he has no points at the moment so he's likely to get 6pp and a fine i think!

Serious?

I think it has got to look better if you actually show up rather than just pleading guilty via post.

Go to court and show genuine remorse. Tell the beak you don't have any excuse whatsoever for your stupid actions and that you have learned from the error of your ways.

He's over that threshold where they could throw the book at him.

If it was me, I'd turn up well presented, and be remorseful, without trying to make any excuses.

Better chance of a best case scenario I would think.

That's what I meant, go to court and cough to being a complete dick - then beg for mercy.
