19"s what size tyres and how much camber?
« on: November 15, 2013, 01:29:56 pm »
If I was to get a hold of a set of 19"s for the golf, let's say 19x8.5 et45 what would be the best size tyre to go with?

225/35/19 I'm thinking. I don't want any rubbing and I know 19's aren't going to be the nicest ride but I don't want anything too small like 215's

Also what amount of rear camber do you run? I have access to top of the range laser four wheel alignment machine so can set it just right. I'm lowered on eibach's sport lines so about 45mm.

Should be fine with 225/35/19 and standard camber
I ran 235/35/19 et48 (yours will poke 3mm more) and was fine even with the wider tyre

You should be fine with 225/35/19's and et45 is perfect for it - No camber required!

I'm on 8.5x18 et35(!) with 215/40/18's and thats tight even with a bit of camber on it!

You'll be OK at the back.
You will need some amount of camber... it does not really effect tyre wear so I can't understand why you wouldn't want it to be added if needed.. it's factory adjustment on the back.

At the front you'll be rubbing if you're low, at your ride height you may just about be OK unless navigating mini roundabouts and turning over drive-up curbs at lock which is where you're going to do the damage.

I had 19x8.5 on mine and it didn't rub at all and I'm on air.
My tyre size was 215/35/19... Perfect amount of stretch
