cool, so I didn't need to go to the trouble of fitting a new roof mounted aerial then
Anyway, to follow up - the aerial I fitted is absolutely wicked, I always get a brilliant signal for both DAB and GPS.
For anyone wanting to do this conversion, this is what I did:
Obtained 6R0035501D & associated Polo aerial - left the bung in screw hole and took it straight to a paint shop with my colour code cost me £50 to paint, adds up but really looks factory fit.
I needed to run x2 6m female to female fakra connectors - I got them from here:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Antennen-Verlaengerung-FAKRA-Winkelbuchse-Buchse-6m-TYP-Z-Antennenkabel-GPS-/110918256400?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:GB:3160They took about a week to arrive.
I then bound them together with fabric tape every 2 inches ( took ages ).
Next I removed the plastic trim that runs across the roof & undid the C-Pillars at the top. Also unscrewed the grab handles in the back.
My car is a 4 door car and I found that it is a lot easier to complete this work if you take off the 2 b-pillar trims as well, this allows the roof lining to come down a bit further and stops it creasing above the B-Pillar - it's really easy but make sure you use a magnetic screwdriver or waste an hour finding your screws like I did !
Next I removed the front nearside ( passenger side ) grab handle, removed the A-pillar trim and fed the fakra cables across the roof lining, it was awkward but it worked really well. I might also have loosened the sun visor too.
Buttoned it all up and I'm dead chuffed !
This weekend I got my new MFSW to fit :)
Cheers!
