MK 6 GTI EDITION 35
« on: November 26, 2013, 04:24:28 pm »
Saw a 12 plate one of these recently in London , got me thinking about replacing my ED30 with one .

Were they limited production ?

I know that several on here have gone from the 30 to the 35 but what do you really get for your extra cash ? It is virtually the same ED30 engine , also does it come with a particular style of alloy or are they all mix and match like a normal gti ??

People say the quality of finish is better , but is it really ?

Does the V5 show it as a ED35 or Anniversary model ?

Model specific alloys are Watkins Glen 18" or Glendale 19". Same engine and ko4 as Ed30.

Don't think production was limited. Quality of finish - paintwork is apparently not as tough on the mk6. Interior is generally regarded as being 'better' than mk5, although not sure if the actual quality is any better.

i think there are something like 800 of them, they were not a limited edition, V5 says GTI Edition 35

engine is later CDL code, stock 18s are Watkins Glen which were in a steel or silver finish and optional 19s are Glendales which were available on stock GTI

my wife prefers it to her Pirelli as she thinks the interior is nicer, bodywork wise horses for courses

mine is going in the new year to make way for a MK7 R and i will miss it

I sold my Editon30 2 months ago and went straight out and bought an Edition35. I love it! It feels much tighter on the road than my Edition 30 ever did, the engine note is fantastic with the stock exhaust. It obviously runs a different map, as its way way heavier on fuel but I couldn't give a stuff.

Everyone says it's the same car but with different panels blah blah but I'd stick my neck out and say it drives way better than my Edition 30 ever did. The electrics are all new, and as stated the cabin is a much nicer place to be - personally I'd say go for it!

I debated an Edition35 or a Golf R, all I'l lsay is after a few weeks of ownership of the Edition 35 most of the Golf R's I looked at were still for sale

The Golf R is overpriced for a 2/3  year old car in my opinion . It is about £4k more than i want to pay . I would pay £19/20k for a highspec 2010 one but they are nearer £24k and thats too much . Bearing in mind i have only done about 6000 miles since November 2010 i don't even need a car !

I love my ed35, it had VERY big shoes to fill after having an ed30 for 5 years and I have to say I'm very happy with the swap so far :happy2:

Golf R might be overpriced, but

The ED35 will be too
