DSG. Didn't go looking for it, and my car was advertised as a manual by VW on their site. The HPI check I did the night before came back as a Semi-Auto - I felt a bit disappointed, but I decided to go and try it anyway...how glad I am that I made that trip!

The only time I miss manual gears is that DSG lacks the ability to skip gears up or down the box. Can be tiresome in manual DSG mode going through every gear ...6-5-4-3-2-1, when in a manual car I would combine braking with the downchanges 6-4-2-1, for example.

Manual - I don't fancy £1500 repair bills  :scared:

My fear is that particularly on the older MK5's, as these units get to 10yrs old and 100k miles and get a bit of wear on the internals, they may get a bit sloppy, jerky, mis-shifts or worse  :surprised:

DSG problem threads getting more and more common. . .

Well.... Bare in mind you have to spend 1000quid on an uprated clutch for manual if you remap, don't have that bother with DSG
