Apple problem - is it possible?
« on: November 24, 2013, 09:45:09 pm »
Does anyone know how to watch Sky on the big screen via ipad3 (using the sky app as the source media) as the HDMI lead doesn't allow it, yet works for many other media, eg I players etc.

What TV do you have? I have an LG and can mirror the iPad screen through an app called LGTVMedia.

Full VCDS Hex + Can.

Tried it on a Panasonic (not a smart version) though.

Will try it on Samsung UE32ES5500KXXU (smart version)

Cheers for the advice, as it never entered my head to use a smart TV!

Asked Sky, they said it couldn't be done.

Now I know it can be done, I'll make progress. :happy2:

Does it mirror to full screen on your TV via that APP?

FYI, Sky have disabled air play from their app (as have 4OD) due to "licensing" issues (meaning they want to charge you for it...again!)

If you google "airplay sky go" there's loads of complaints. Read here: http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Go-on-Apple-iOS/Sky-go-and-AirPlay/td-p/457286

As above. Sky purposely block airplay mirroring from their Sky go app.

Sky have thought about the jailbreakers as well, they detect the jailbreak and block Sky Go from working at all, Virgin have done the same with their App, suspect that the broadcasters have got both companies to block jailbreakers and AirPlay

I'm still progressing with this and have ordered another cable to sort it!

It will be as follows:-

Laptop VGA to link cable c/w electronics to HDMI or USB with an Audio loop cable.

If it works full size trouble free I'll post all the info  - I've tried three others cables which have either failed or the sound / picture wasn't acceptable.

Would it work with Apple TV? Maybe not as it still classed as airplay I imagine...

No go with Apple TV.

You can only transfer the device once per month so January before I can try via a laptop using VGA adaptor.

If anyone use Skygo and wants it back full size through the TV the above works a dream. :happy2:
