Changing Indicator Bulbs
« on: April 29, 2010, 05:00:37 pm »
I know it would appear to be quite straightforward but I prodded and poked yesterday evening and cannot see how to do it.

My handbook is only for the GTI and normal Golf and doesn't mention Xenons at all so I am a bit stumped.  :sad1:

Anyone done this or should I just admit failure.

Elsawin says ;-

Remove the cap (normal headlights require you to twist the cover off) HIDs it just pops off

Turn the bulbholder and remove from reflector (looking towards the front of the car twist to the left)

Push bulb down in holder and turn

Pull the bulb out of the holder

Sorry to revive an old thread, but does anyone know what indicator bulbs are in the Xenons? Opposite Pin type of Offset? It's too windy outside to look

Mines a 2005 with factory fit xenons.

my bulbs are BAX9S also known as H6W

im not sure if later build dates are different tho.

for reference the bulb fitting is a similar size as 501 bulbs commonly used for side lights.

they're indicators in mine! they may also be used as sidelights in other cars, my rear GTI original lights use them as indicators too. they flash white and get the amber colour from the indicator lens inside the headlight.

i know because when i wanted to change them to LED lights i had to get AMBER LEDS as white ones made the amber indicators yellowish so i wasn't happy.
