MDI & AUX together
« on: November 23, 2013, 04:39:11 pm »
Hello experts,

I've slowly been gathering parts for some nice upgrades to my Golf.

One part of the upgrade is a new armrest cover so I can have the MDI there.

This means I have a new cover which unfortunately comes with the AUX cutout; rather than use a bung I've purchased the AUX connector and have some wires being delivered for a nice fit - or so I thought.

However, here is my problem:

Having studied all of the AUX retrofit threads, my MDI harness and the RNS510 Dab stereo which requires pins 1,2 & 7 for AUX, I conclude that the only way to make AUX and MDI work is to solder the 3 AUX cables wires into the loom to piggy back the 3 existing wires already present in the MDI loom for AUX. I'm not saying that I want to use MDI and AUX simultaneously, I just want them both to be able to work.

Do I understand this correctly or is there an easier way to do this than splicing the wires together ?

Why can't I get an anthracite armrest in 100% condition without the AUX cutout :(

Cheers Guys.
