Help needed! engine error code diagnostic
« on: December 02, 2013, 08:24:11 pm »
Hi guys,
I have got an engine error code which i need help on... the car is at vw at the moment and they haven't got a scooby what's wrong with it...
The car starts fine but then straight away has an erratic idle then (sounds like it) drowns and cuts out...
Here is the code:
1 Fault Found:
004243 - Bank 1; Fuel Measuring System 2
               P1093 - 008 - Malfunction - Intermittent
             Freeze Frame:
                    Fault Status: 00101000
                    Fault Priority: 0
                    Fault Frequency: 1
                    Mileage: 77543 km
                    Time Indication: 0
                    Date: 2000.00.00
                    Time: 15:42:37

             Freeze Frame:
                    RPM: 2512 /min
                    Load: 22.7 %
                    Speed: 50.0 km/h
                    Temperature: 72.0°C
                    Temperature: 19.0°C
                    Absolute Pres.: 1020.0 mbar
                    Voltage: 13.970 V

Iv looked on ross-tech and found this...

Possible Symptoms

Power Loss
Misfire(s)
Stalling

Possible Causes

Fuel Pressure insufficient/exceed/fluctuating
Fuel Pump (High Pressure System) faulty
Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (N276) faulty

Possible Solutions

Check Fuel Pressure (on FSI engines High and Low Fuel Pressure System)
Check Fuel Pump (High Pressure System)
Check Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (N276)
Check Fuel Filter and Filter in Fuel Pump Casing

...has anyone experienced this before/ know exactly what is wrong?
Any input would be really appreciated...

Dependent on mileage. I would start with replacing the following 3 parts.

Fuel pump thrust sensor
Fuel filter
Fuel pump follower (camshaft bucket)

Those are merely routine serviceable parts
If you still experience issues. I would suggest check fuel pressure request vs specified.

If you are able to do these. And report back.
I'm sure Bacillus will chime in as well.
