Quick help needed guys... (Which wheel size is the best option)
« on: December 02, 2013, 03:44:18 pm »
Right guys.

Stuck on wheel sizes ive read that many things im more confused than when I started...

What I want to know from people who know and not guessing is..

Which wheel size will be best suited to a lowered Mk5 Gti...

5x112
8.5" FRONT & 9.5" REAR
X 19"
ET42 - 66.6CB

Then....

4 X 8.5

X 18"
5X112
ET35

OR

2 X 8 X 18"
5X112 ET35
2 X 9 X 18" 5X112 ET35

Last of all...

4 X 8.5 X 19" 5X112 ET45

They are all the same wheel just in different fittings and im unsure what to go for...

I have two sets of tyres 1x 215 35 18 and 1 x 235 35 19..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Paul.

How much is the car lowered by?

215/35/18 would be the best fit for the 18x8.5 et35 IMO but you would need to roll your fronts and a small amount of camber in the back

I personally think your 235/35/19 are too wide for the wheel specs you have given and will cause more rubbing than the 18" options

If you wanted to run the 19s I'd go for a 215/35/19 or a 225/35/19

What wheels are they or is it a secret?

Hope this helps

It's really not a complicated thing..
.
I would go for 215/35/19 on the front and 225/40 tops on the rear.. problem is with et35 you will catch the arch so you'd want a 8.5 et42 front with a 215/35 tyre and an et35 9.5 will rub with that tyre size... forget what tyres you have currently buy a set of wheels which will fit and then buy the tyres that will work with those wheels on your car.

19x8.5 et 45 would be the easiest out of them all to fit as its a pretty much flush fitment a 215/35 would be better than the 225/35

With any of these specs you would be better off rolling your front arches before you ruin them

When you get an alignment just tell them you want some negative camber on the rear, you can do it yourself but when you adjust camber it throws your toe setting out so needs doing anyway
