Not mk5 golf but, it sister A3 DPF removal

Hello people,

 Got my lass a 2008 audi A3 2.0tdi 170 s-tronic about 6 months ago, when we first got it, it went into limp mode with the DPF filter so it went back to the dealer and force regened the DPF.

Now it's starting to bloody stink again!

Should I take it back to the dealer again (out of waurantee) or

Get the DPF mapped out and get a cheeky remap at the same time.

Is there anything I should be looking out for when it remapped will the DSG/S-tronic be ok with the remap its had both full and dsg service about 2000 mile ago. The car has 53000 on the clock.

Find someone with vcds near you and force regeneration again.

Sorry for got to mention the car has only done 3000mile since the last regen. Surely this can't be right? Will a forced regen sort this problem?

Remap FTW! Dsg car is better than manual when it comes to remapping, don't need to worry about the clutch being shredded!

Get the DPF removed and go for the remap. The Darkside Developments pipe is a lovely piece of kit and what I have fitted to mine. Cheaper than the Milltek aswell. Get it done sooner rather than later. I have heard of DPF's when properly blocked damaging engines due to the gasses having nowhere to go.

Remove the whole DPF system..

I would try a good one hour run down the motorway (at a constant 70) then seen how that works out.

This is a common town vehicle problem and requires a weekly blast for twenty minutes above fifty,without interruption for the system to work correctly.

After that it's spending money and it's which ever of the above suits you.

My CR170 regen's every 600ish miles anyway, and even less if only used around town, although it's barely noticeable when it's doing it.

3000 miles between regen's is a LOT  is it 3000 miles since the light came on do you mean??

PD170's  are not suited to the DPF which is why so many people have problems, even when it is driven "properly". Common Rail TDI's are much happier with the DPF  - mine has given me a trouble free year of motoring now, even with lots of short trips mixed in with long drives. Loving the shiny tailpipes

Just got a Tiguan with a 2.0CR, will be removing the DPF then reinstalling the same pipe, then having it mapped out

Rtech removed the dpf and remapped my wife's leon fr tdi. Really happy with the results.

So 3000mile is a lot I take it For the DPF regen sh*te?  3000mile in 6 month ant much IMO, Her car is the pd170 too. She drives it like miss daisy I drive it really hard to be fair or like a cock when I'm home. I think removal and a map is in order to be honest. I only use my golf to go to Aberdeen so only really 600miles a month.

Pretty sure the handbook says it will re-gen every 600ish miles regardless of how it's driven (May be different for the PD engines). Most of my re-gens are the passive type where the exhaust gets hot enough by itself on motorway drives so doesn't need intervention from the ECU.

The DPF isn't a big box so will fill up after 60ish miles around town.

It should pass the MOT without the DPF - I believe it is not an MOT require.
