Exhaust warning light - update: problems! - RESOLVED!

Managed to get the warning light for the exhaust come up today for the first time. Car's been fine, with no unusual changes in the last few days or so. It didn't come up this morning when I went to work but came on an hour later when I had to go somewhere else.

No obvious changes in the characteristics of the car.

Looking these up alludes to problems with either the fuel pressure sensor itself or the pump (or both!).

Anyone had a similar problem come up? How long did it take to sort?

btw you should update your vcds to the release dated 11-09-09

Nope. Other than an air filter change, car has been unmolested since I bought it 12 months ago.

I think you need to get the fuel pressure sensor changed in the first instance if you don't want to use the dealer for whatever reason.

No mate. Car is unmodified because of insurance issues. Once I switch to a mod-friendly insurer, it'll be mods-galore.

Will definitely go down to the dealers this weekend but wanted an idea of what was likely to be causing issues and an idea of time/cost. Need the car for work, so wouldn't be happy about being car-less!

95% sure that this is the fuel pressure sensor thaton the low pressure side of the HPFP. There is a TSB on this - TSB 24 07 08 June 19, 2007 2015106/1 (not sure if just US market). Fine to drive until sorted

Hmmm...surprised about that because I'm sure my build date was October 2007 or thereabouts.

I had this lamp on, took it to an Indy who checked the codes, sorry that I didn't record the codes now. But he cleared it and it has never came back. I remember the lamp coming on, I was sitting at lights in S with my foot on the brake (something I never do).

Anyway it's been ok for 4 weeks and apparently this lamp can come on for any number of reasons.

Has the ecu had an update?

Clear the fault codes and see how you get on.

My car had 12 fault codes once, and intermittently ran like sh*t. Cleared fault codes, updated ecu softare and its all been fine since. And this is on a 09 car.

I had that sensor replaced on a recall - 09/06 build.

EDIT: recall notice 24m5. no letter received, just advised when it was in for the DSG check.

Not it's not had an ECU update as far as I'm aware. It had it's first service (oil change) back in January. No mention of ecu update at the time. Like I said, it's been fine since I bought it in Aug 08.

Gah! Stealers say they can't fit me in for a diagnostic until tuesday and that it'll take an hour!

What's the difference between the dealers and vcds?
