GTi Xenon look projector headlights
« on: December 07, 2013, 07:24:39 am »
I've been wanting to fit these to swmbo's Golf for a while now, I've found Eurowagens are offering the RHD variety for silly money.  Has anyone fitted the projector lights from them or had any experience of their products?

Just had a message back from Eurowagens, stating these units are made by Depo?

I have them fitted. They look just like xenons.but I'd recommend upgrading the h7 bulbs to something like osram night breakers as the output is not brilliant!

You have these exact ones made by Depo? How long have you had them fitted, any issues, condensing up etc? I have Ring Xenon Max Extreme fitted at the moment and the light they give out is excellent and very white!

I think you'll need to fit a HID kit in these to get decent light output, as a "metal guard" cuts the light beam off at the top. That's what I found with my MK4 FK angel eye projectors.
There might be a problem with wiper motor and HID kits, discussed else where on here.

Been running a HID kit in my vRS for over four years, so I would get the same one for these lights. The issue with the wiper is documented when using an 'error free' kit, as the system runs on the same controller as the wiper motor. Best practice, and what I've done, is buy a standard kit, then find a decent chap with VCDS, to code the controller to xenons without shutters, and turn off the cold diagnostic. That's assuming it's an option on the Golf?

Iv had the Depo ones for about a year or so. Running a HID with no wiper issues. They dont steam up and happy with the light output

I was a bit concerned as another member got some a couple of weeks ago, and has since returned them, as one headlight misted up and he said the light output was shocking?

Its all about expectations i think. If you are expecting xenon quality lighting, then these arent for you. I was after the improved look of them on my car with some better visibility, which is what iv got. I dont do a great deal of driving where i need bright headlights as i mainly do 99% lit motorway

Tbh the HIDs fitted in my vRS offer an equal or even better light output to OE, possibly because I fitted 5000k bulbs. In your opinion, is the light output better than OE Halogen?

In that case, it'll be worth it, the xenon units look a whole lot better than halogen, and if the light (with a hid kit) is better then it's a win, win!!!

I noticed one of mine was misting up a week after they were fitted.i checked the back cover was fitted properly, it was a bit skewif. Put it on properly and no problems at all since.
