345mm vag brake kit from awesome gti
« on: December 07, 2013, 04:48:28 pm »
I'm looking to buy the s3/r32/Cupra front brake set up and I found the whole kit on awesome gti for £980, the kit contains:

* OEM Discs (345x30mm) - These can be replaced with uprated Tarox Discs - ask for prices!!
* OEM Calipers in RED
* OEM Carriers in RED
* OEM Protective shields
* OEM Brake lines and pipes
* OEM caliper slide bolts
* OEM Brake Pads
* all the essential clips and bolts

Is the price tag what it would be roughly from the dealers or is it a lot cheaper buying them from dealers? I'm wanting new ones.

Why not buy second hand calipers and carriers these can be brought for around £300, then buy oem discs and pads and brake lines from tps. You can use all your gti shields and bolts etc save yourself a lot of money

Personally I wouldn't go new, I've had two sets now, both have been great and both were second hand... you can grab them for half your price on ebay and when you come to sell probably only lose a little bit of cash... if you buy new you'll lose £500 easily... if you have that money to burn your almost at a BBK price and definitely in the realms of a Porchse 986 setup... just something to think about buddy. :happy2:

I just thought if I could buy new and it not be too much differents in price and just have all the parts I need in one go from awesome it'd be easier instead of shopping everywhere. In that case then as andygtii suggested I think il look on ebay for calipers and carriers if I'm going to save a decent amount then get the rest brand new. So all il need is new is dust shields and brake lines then? Is there anything else needed here? If the calipers don't have the slider bolts in when I get them are the 312 sliders the same as the 345 caliper ones?

Your old dust shields would be fine mate calipers should come with all bolts plenty on eBay, you will need s3 brake lines for front might aswel get  yourself some braided lines

I was perusing eBay this morning and added a few links to brakes in the 'other items for sale' forum.
