Mileage is no indication of anything. Buy the car on it's condition and condition alone.

119k on mine, solid engine!  highest ive seen them go is 180k.

As long it has had engine oil changed regularly with correct oil, they should be sweet as a nut,

Engine and Gearbox are generally very good... it's just everything else that starts to fall off.

They do last a long time, but as Jay said, low mileage isn't a stickler for being looked after  :happy2:

I'm in the mileage don't matter club too! most of my cars have been high mileage vw's and I've never had any issues with them that weren't easy or simple to fix and nothing to do with the mileage.

In my eyes anything under the average 10-12k a year hasn't probably hasn't had nice long motorway drives and has been start stop around towns wearing parts out quicker than a higher mileage car.

I've always based my buying on service history rather than mileage. Generally a good service history makes up for the high mileage

My current ED30 has done pretty much 90k, but these days I wouldn't call that high mileage. It drives every bit as nice as my old 40k car.

Does my head in sometimes the way some people are so bothered about mileage over anything else. Sometimes it's just a number on the clocks, how's it's been maintained is a lot more important, cars are built to last these days too.

Too many assumptions , my car is never driven unless it is running for 30 minutes , its 2007 and done 22k . Why does the trade give a higher price for a lower mileage , they are the proffesionals in what A CARS WORTH after all

So a low mileage car wouldn't have been serviced then ?
Long Life Servicing on modern cars is not good for them and cars should be serviced every year . Our other car is a Mini Cooper diesel we bought at 18 months old with about 40k on it , it had only been serviced once and that was what the manufacturer had reccommnded , the car had several problems (which i knew about when i bought it) and were resolved under warranty .

I don't think mileage is an issue when buying providing it has been serviced properly

A lot of people do have a thing when it comes to mileage, an old car with low miles can also have problems as seals start perish and leak

I bought mine on 104,000 miles and it's as good as new ,I picked it because of the spec and the history of it
