Windscreen Condensation, Please Help!

Hey Guys,

Last couple of days since it has been getting colder, when i finish work in the evening time my windscreen is always full of condensation inside, I switch on the heater but it takes ages to clear the windscreen, any ideas why this is?

Clean it with a microfibre demisting pad and glass cleaner, made a huge difference to mine...

Silica pouches to absorb moisture. Put some in the cabin for a while.

You don't get warm air for ages if the car is cold and just sitting there idling 

Ours is the same, even when the windscreen button is pressed the car is useless at demisting it, my 3 series works perfectly.....

Change the cabin filter, I have heard this helps if it hasn't been done for a while.

The Golf isn't the best in the world, but mine clears within 30-40 seconds.

When humidity is over 90% it's harder to clean the windshield.
I'd start with cleaning it from the inside with some window cleaner, then use an anti-mist pad (still on the inside) that will reduce the condensation formed on it and never use hot air to clean the windshield. There is a button in mk5 climatronic controls (far left upper) that switches A/C to on and shoots the air towards the windshield & windows. That should clean your windshield in less than a minute at the high fan setting, you can then turn it down or even switch off the A/C manually and see if that will work during the ride. If not you can switch it back on.

Also avoid heavy breathing and the more people you have in the car the easier it is to get foggy windows.

... and if they're wearing wet clothes or no clothes, the glass mists up more.

Had this issue in a car I just sold where I always had AC on longer runs, new pollen filter and silica pads in the cabin. I put an open tub of unused gravel type cat litter on the drivers seat overnight. Really helped.
