Revo Remap
« on: September 18, 2009, 03:29:38 pm »
Decided on going for revo stage 1 with select switch after some research but have a few questions.

First if the amp is applied then say i visit vw for service & then  it gets erased.. is it possible to reapply the map using the select switch (possible reason for purchase)

Also the revo select switch allows you to switch maps.. does it revert to original vw map or is its revos own version of the standard map.. if so is it anywhere near the same as the vw map

Thanks

Why not ask Revo - they're very helpful?  :happy2:

With revo the ecu is flashed with all the maps (ie stock 95, 98 etc) and these can be swtiched using select or select+, its there version of the standard map

select and select + merely are a tool to switch between the maps and don't store them, if your dealer reflashed the ECU Revo would need to be reinstalled (which they do)

as SteveP said in another thread if they look into it deep enough they could probably tell, however, for superficial purposes falsh counter should be zero

a few of us have mod friendly dealers, i alwasy switch ours back to standard to and tell them so they don't feel the urge to go for a test drive

Just be aware that some REVO dealers may charge labour for a re-flash - £20 from JKM - depends on the dealer.

I know of one that charges for one hour labour when reflashing...    :scared:

Thanks for the reply s fellas.. so U guys recommend going for the select switch... think its a good idea as like u say when visiting the dealer i can simply put back to standard..

Also is it worth mentioning that I have remapped the car when visiting the dealer?

The select plus switch is great but if you don't ever intend fiddling with your settings then the slect switch will be a cheaper option. With it you can turn the map on and off as well as use the anti-theft feature.

....It depends on the VW dealer - Some are more mod-friendly than others. Personally I'm very lucky with mine but surely it's far more comfortable and better for any working relationship to be able to be honest and open with each other. I'd change my dealer to one I could be open with if I found that mine wasn't.

Every time you go to the dealer's ask if they are likely to load any VW ECU upgrade and if so, switch to 'Stock' first so it'll all go smoother.

....That's exactly what I've done and I can either go to JKM or a friend who used to work for my VW dealer and who now does Revo remaps on vans and he can use his laptop.

It's Revo's own code that is put on the standard map mate, but doesn't affect the flash counter. As the other lads have already said, most dealers will reflash you back to Revo code for free if it gets wiped off. But having my last two cars done with Revo and done well over 100k miles worth of servicing and warranty work between them and never had to get mine done, so quite rare, although it is possible..
