So I've just managed to read through the whole thread while sitting in the fracture clinic waiting for the prognosis on a fractured and dislocated shoulder. I barely realised I was waiting for 2 hours! So thank you for that! And I'm in awe of pretty much everything!

Just one piece of input as there was the debate over the rear lights and the Valeo ones have a better output, thought of having them tinted to tone down the contrast a little? Personally I'm a fan but hey might be something to consider...

OUCH!!!  :scared:

Hope your ok fella, I dislocated my elbow as a child and can still vividly remember the excruciating pain to this day.

Thanks for your kind words BTW. VALEO rears appear to be a marmite mod, yes some film in a subtle tint might tone their appearance down a touch.

Yeah I think the words I used were a little harsher than that at the time haha! Especially when I realised that my car was then in pieces and had no way to put it back together again haha

Thanks! I'll be alright apparently only a 3 month recovery to get back to normal usage... But hey I can still drive  :happy2:

My pleasure, credit where credit is due and all! and all the while building up the inspiration bank while I search for my own!

The Mistress decided to throw her toys out the pram today and juddered to a halt by the side of the road, coughing, popping and bunny hopping to a stand still.

Can't get her to Alex so will go with a local specialised (God help me). Let's hope it's a plug, Coilpacks or injector.

 :sad1:

Surely there is a member close to you with VCDS. No point throwing money away at a local specialist  :rolleye: if its something simple.

Ive never had VCDS as im a complete idiot so a pointless exercise in futility me owning one! Will look in the register and see if anyone is close by. Would rather throw beer tokens to them than my entire wallet to someone else.

Just started her up and idle is fine, no lights on dash so risked a test drive and drove fine for 2 mins than same again as per previous post, seems intermittent.

Luckily my local VAG specialised is 3 miles away and very good....just not as good as that Kerr chap (which is why I do a 200 mile round trip for a minor service).

I'd recommend a simple fault scanner to carry around with you regardless, even the £25-50 ones will give you some sort of fault code to work with and give you hope when going into someone else for work. I got myself a Foxwell NT500 which is about half as much as VCDS but the number of times it's saved my bacon and helped me out has more than covered it's costs initially.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Agree with this ^^. I bought my VCDS cable on a group buy on ukmkivs.net many years back - I've never used it to change settings, but it has more than paid for itself when diagnosing my old mk4 and now the mk5.

For example, my CEL has just come on again - could be something serious, but plugging the car into vagcom has just shown it is the P0441 code which is just the brimming of the tank/charcoal canister emissions guff, so nothing to worry about! £60 saved by not having to go to a garage...

Hope your mistress is sorted soon Martin!

^^^^

Thanks for info chaps. I'll get this sorted then get one. Ive just read on interweb there are different VCDS cables, a micro-CAN, a HEX USB+CAN and another one with WiFi/USB........all different prices. Less bothered about price but no point getting something I don't need or won't use and wasting money?

These peeps (below) what do I want and where from, best english supplier?

Thanks @dazza   :drinking:

Why the HEX over the Micro, any reason?
