HID kit or uprated bulbs?
« on: December 15, 2013, 11:17:08 am »
i have a mk5 ed30 and want to get rid of the poor dull white lighting! have all ready ordered mk6 led number plate lights but do i go for a HID kit or uprated bulbs for the headlights?

i often find after market hid kits are nowhere near as good as oem and i often still dazzle people even though there adjusted correctly on a beam setter!

so i am kind of swaying towards good standard style headlight bulbs and some led sidelights?

anyone have a view on this please

I was in the same boat with my Ed 30. The standard headlights are woeful. I upgraded the bulbs but frankly the standard reflector housing and wiring is not great.  I would advise not fitting an after market HID kit to the standard set up; it looks chavvy and the light scatter will not win you any friends or aid your night driving at all.  You should try and find some OEM Xenon's if funds allow.  Such a difference!   I saved for a year and I'm glad I made the change.

Good luck.

Autolamps Cobalt 2 for me. Closest thing you can get to Xenon's from a halogen. Cheaper than the Osram's and mine have lasted over 3 yrs and still going strong  :notworthy:
