Front top mounts
« on: December 14, 2013, 05:12:44 pm »
Hi guys need so help, I'm in the middle of replacing my top mounts but not having any joy. I've removed the strut nut and the three for the top mount but the strut just doesn't want to drop down. I've read on a few places on the internet that this is all I need to do......but no joy. Can anyone point me in the right direction

I've no experience with changing suspension, but does the spring need to be compressed?

I've got a slight knocking over bumps recently, so am interested in this as a DIY if easy, but thought spring compressors would be required...

Cheers doylebros.... I've seen one like this and that's what I will do tomorrow. But I've also seen one where all you do is compress the spring and undo all the bolts on top  and the arm should drop down. I've undone the bolts ,compressed the spring and it hasn't moved any even when I'm standing on the brake disk?

You need that tool 3424 or similar (chisel) have you undertaken that action so you can get the strut out?
