Anyone know what step 7 is all about?

Is it purley to just allow the oil the drain? And do you really have to do this to change the filter without any bad concequences?

Just to save some mess by the looks of it, either way the housing has to come off.

Love the little tub with a spout. Very clever.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Great How-to :congrats:

I recently bought 1L Castrol edge to use as a top-up, but then i read that you guy's recommend changing the oil every 6K miles. So i decided to keep the 1L of oil and get some prices for an oil change. :jumping: £130 at VW  :jumping: The indy VW said £110 :jumping: and then the VW dealership came back to me saying they would beat any written quote.

Do you save alot of money doing it yourself?  It looks easy enough :ashamed:

I guess you need:

5L of castrol edge 5w 30
Oil filter (is this just an internal cartridge?)
Oil seal
Sump plug washer

whats the cost of these roughly? Is it better to just get it done?
