E46 M3 was great. E92 M3 just isnt the same. C63 AMG is a better car than the new m3, certainky sounds better and goes much quicker in a straightline.

i think the m3 showed its class against the merc around the ascari circuit

I have seriously disagree with the c63 being better. I just don't see it. It's just not poised or delicate as the m3. It's like cutting your hair with hedge trimmers. Yes it's bigger and has more capacity but is it really the tool for the job though? Not really.

Although I agree the new m3 is very different to the old and the c63 sounds incredible!

BMW M stands for marketing these days, not motorsport. A real enthusiast who is after poise wouldnt even twice consider getting the new m3, its just far too heavy. Nearly 1700kg the m3.  :stupid:

RS is the ultimate hothatch modifying aside.

M3 is arguably the ultimate coupe/luxury saloon, but for me its best merits sorta defeats its purpose as it aint got sh*t on some of the worlds real drivers cars.

The C63 atleast doesnt try to be a clinical track car like the bmw, but instead its a arguably more entertaining road car, and for one the road and everyday living I think its better imo. At the end of the day with the average driver behind the wheel of both, on public roads the AMG will be the quicker car, and the better sounding one at that! People bang on about how its better round the track, but if thats your perogative just buy a track car.

all my imo.

p.s, if bmw made a csl version I would have a change of heart ;)

Fair enough mate I know where your comin from. Driving the c63 was still a big wallowy ride and the c63 didn't hide it's weight as well as the m3. Understeer then alot of oversteer now, I'm no tiff nedel but it wasn't my driving. It's no heap of sh*t don't get me wrong I just prefer the m3 ;)

Chased a AMG E55 3 man up with the AMG by himself and he was only a little quicker than my stage 1 car.

Going back to my post I would have to say that  BMW really turned things around with the E46 as the chassis and VANOS improvements were hugely effective. BMW got a bit of bashing with the E36 when comparing the E30.

You can't compare a coupe with a hatch but from a driving perspective rear wheel drive doesn't corrupt steering feel.

It's the same of argument that journalists have been going on for years FWD v RWD. The E46 has fabulous chassis balance but so has the MK5.

According to Top Gear the c-cks have now moved from  BMW to Audi :signLOL:

One other hooligan which I'd like to try as the VXR Monaro...lots of sideways action.

One car I've yet to try is the V8 M5....400BHP and very cheap.
Pearl Black Edition 30 3 Door. DSG. (3rd Edition 30)
Maybe on the too do list: APR Stage 2+, KW Clubsports, Brakes, Diff.

The e46 is a truely great all round machine, and much more than just straight line pace. I went out in CA Automotives 550bhp model recently and that was just insane.

For me the one big let down is how old and dated they feel inside, but they can be picked up from under 10k, what a bargain !

me and cuprak1 have had a few experiences now with the e92 m3. Lets just say that afterwards the M3 owner wanted a passenger ride in mine after stating that I wouldnt stand a chance and him being out of my league  :signLOL: :signLOL:

He eturned the favour afterwards. The E92 M3 feels much quicker than mine, but it isnt, which is weird, proper lovely motor though.
