Exhaust Warning Light
« on: December 16, 2013, 12:47:41 pm »
Just had my Mk5 GTi serviced (Full + DSG) at Awesome, driving it back to work (100 miles away) and exhaust warning light started flashing 6 times, then stopped when I was cruising at around 70ish  :innocent: (90mph) , then once I got off the motorway it came on permanently, not going to be able to get this looked at till I come home on leave on Friday, and even then with it being Christmas it could be a little longer.

Any ideas, or will it have to go on the diagnostic to find any problems, Awesome did give me a few extra jobs that need doing (small rip in CV Boot, new suspension Bushes, and hydraulic brake fluid change) but I don't think these would cause that issue??

Thanks,
Byron

Possibly the charcoal canister thing, check for leaks

You really need a scan to pin point the cause. Any vcds owning members close by? http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.msg1061.html#msg1061

Awesome normally does a scan as part of the service routine, was one done on yours?

Also just thinking out loud, did you refuel after Awesome as a poorly tightened fuel cap can lead to a CEL.

Yes that was the light. Awesome did a scan and said there where no faults shown at the time

Did a 120 mile trip yesterday and the light has now disappeared. I topped up my tank yesterday with normal BP (95) as they didn't have any 98 in, I wonder if this could have anything to do with the light going off???

Could well be a cause...
