Replacing the rear VW badge for a black one?

Im trying to replace the rear VW badge for a black version so i need to remove the original chrome one. The replacement one i have has as double sided sticky pad on the back of it. Will the original badge just prise off or do i need the remove the complete badge and mechanism??

I done mine a while ago...
Not sure you have the right badge if it has a sticky adhesive on the back.it should just clip on!!!
2007 TR gt170...heated leather,underseat drawers,auto-levelling bi-xenons,puddle leds,chrome switches,footwell lights f+r,cruise control and ed30 rear lamps,LED interior....carbon highline clocks,ed30 front spoiler,RNS 510 P+MDI,mk6 gti gearknob,TPMS done,complete r32 trim kit+ MFSW,r32 f+r brakes,RLS fitted.headlamp washers,folding mirrors and boot pop,mk6 RVC,19"Helios,AP coilies,valeo LEDs  ...dpf delete and remap to finish off

Yeah, to be honest it came with the car, I think it's just a cheap version.?

Post up a photo, I'll be able to tell if someone has stuck a 3D badge on an original flat handle (pre 06 cars) or someone has been messing with the handle - as all 3D handles 06 onwards clipped on as someone above mentioned

Edit: may have miss read the thread - you can't buy silver or black mk5 badge son their own only mk6(which fit with a bit of fettling)

Opps...forgot mine was fitted on a mk6 RVC..

Got sorted in the end, i removed the chrome VW bit from the badge.!
