Tapping noise
« on: December 19, 2013, 09:13:16 pm »
Hi guys not long had my Mk5 Gti. Just noticed over the last couple of days when it has got a little colder when i start it in the morning it seems to make a slightly loud tapping sort of noise for around 2/3 seconds then goes out. Is this normal? i know they all sound slightly tappety but this seems a little louder than it normally is but goes out after 2/3 seconds. Car in question is a 2006 with 89,000 on it.

Thanks for your help!

Checked oil its fine.
SH is upto date and always serviced by VW.
Will replace cam follower this weekend as there is no proof of it being done. At first i thought it was just me over hearing it but i heard it again as i started it up after work today. Haven't had a chance to strip anything to take a look yet though!
