Half Leather Bucket Seat Options
« on: December 21, 2013, 11:32:56 am »
Been looking at getting a set of Recaro's or VAG group seats for the A3 for a while, something with a more rigid lumbar support.
The MK5 Intergalos cloth interior seats I had in my MK5 GTI were perfect in that respect, for example.

The regular S-Line half leather seats I have now simply don't "hold you" in place when cornering hard. I'm pretty slight, which might be partly why, however, I want something that will hold me in place nicely and give extra comfort. An adjustable lumbar support like the MK5 GTI has would be a bonus.

I'm looking for;
- Half leather
- Must be genuine Recaro or Genuine VAG group interior
- Either S-Line badged or Audi logoed'

I'd windled' it down to the seats in the MK2 Audi TT 2.0 TFSI's as they seemed to be more bucket like and meet the criteria I'm looking for. Everything but the seats is ironically too cramped for me in the MK2 TT.
The other option was a pair of Recaro CS in half leather, but they're fairly rare and quite expensive.

These were also an option at comfortably under a grand - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-TT-MK2-TTRS-TTS-R8-BLACK-NAPPA-INTERIOR-SEATS-REAR-CARDS-TTRS-STYLE-/350947072445?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item51b61359bd

^ I've no idea if the seats will 'hug' around the waist and back like the MK5 GTI Interlagos seats do, though.

Has anyone got any experience of TT front seats and how they compare with the GTI or Edition 30 seats?

Thanks.
Pete

Full leather I know, but do these 'lock you in' around the kidneys like the GTI Interlagos seats do and like most Recaro buckets do?

Not sat in a TT-RS, only a 2.0 TSI TT on a 2011 plate  :ashamed:

Thanks to anyone with experience of these  :happy2:

If you can get the seats cheap enough, you could always get the centres re-trimmed into something more grippy?!

It's the shape I think Joe I.E. the S-Line seat outers' are very curved and set back, not angular and don't stick out so they don't 'hold you' in like true bucket seats do?

brand new recaro cs.

Or you could, you know, put the Mk5 GTI seats into your A3. Same platform they bolt up the same.

Linky no worky.

And absolutely aware, but they need to be Audi, S-Line or neutrally labelled/logoed' as mentioned  :happy2:

RE GTI Seats, could always have them retrimmed.  :happy2:

Won't be cost effective, talking over a grand and a half for any sort of VW Group seat and re-trim, whereas I'm seeing a few OEM Audi front seats come up well under a grand. Even the regular TT-RS are under £800 which gives me something to work with.

It's just a case of establishing the 'right' seats.

Just a suggestion.  :happy2:

I hear you dude. I think given my budget, finding seats and a re-trim in budget is a non-starter, hence understanding which half-leather Audi seats have decent lumbar supports before I know I'm not buying something that I've already got, which are the factory S-Line half leather seats.

If they held me nicely when attacking the B-Roads, I wouldn't be looking at others  :sad1: :popcornsoda:
