OE Brake discs and Pads Replacements ED30
« on: December 22, 2013, 10:27:24 am »
What are the nearest Front and Rear Brake Discs and pads to OE on 2007 Edition 30 ?

Are there any real benefits from paying more ? Its not driven fast or tracked so no need for upgrade etc

I like the look of the ones with holes in on the fronts so may sway towards them

Where can i get them from seen alot on ebay Eurocarparts etc ?

Thanks

Merry Xmas

You can get the OEM discs and pads online look for ATE as the brand name... They are usually the most expensive variant on euro cp, but probably cheaper than dealer.

Drilled discs are noisier than plain discs and add no benefit to the braking force, I'd go slotted only if not plain. :happy2:

Thats what i'm after really is OE quality , can't find ATE discs on ECP ??
Also i didn't know drilled discs were noisier , i had them on a Mercedes once and didn't notice any noisy brakes .

Has anyone ever tried to set up a TPS Trade Account from this Forum for forum use ? I am sure it would be beneficial to TPS , wouldn't it ?

My local TPS sell to me, they actually deliver it for free to a local garage my mates cousin owns and I just leave them cash.

Have you tried your local TPS?
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

It depends on who you speak to there unfortunately
I have been there in the past and they have refused to sell to me , none seem to do it over the phone without an account . Do they think its Head Office checking ?

Here's the pads:
www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_2.0_2006/p/car-parts/brakes/brake-friction/brake-pad/?101441165&1&d77e48454a97e434e47fda0ec4fedddac1baa29e&1&000036

Works out at £52 delivered with promo chill30

Re: Discs, Pagid are probably fine tbh... I had drilled/slotted 312's on the Mk5 before the R32 setup and they were noticeably noiser but looked pretty cool.

Ebc grooved are good with ferodo ds2500 pads. Bit more expensive but satisfaction guaranteed. As well check you splash guards if they are missing your breaking efficiency will be decreesed. It would be a shame having an ed30 with rusty squeeky cheap and nasty brakes. And its worth it to pay bit extra for OEM stuff.

I got some brembo pads from eBay for £33 deliverd

I was intending to get pads from euro car parts but I couldn't be sure what pads actually fitted.

The slots in the discs are what makes a noise when breaking

They are the originals and are a bit scruffy having been out in the elements for 6.5 years - Hardly worn either tbh - just making it look the best it can ready for sale with 22300 miles on it
