Touraeg is the name of a remote African tribe. They were supposed to be a nomadic, noble people.

Now they are a group of terrorists.

I think you may be referring to the 'Tuareg' tribe?  :happy2:

I was already aware of the Tuareg tribe hence why I believe the 'Touareg' may be the name of a Saharan wind, or at least thats what the instructor on the Touareg off road course at Wolfsburg told me

Haha really?
I was about 13 when it first came out and we were at that Birmingham NEC show. The guy driving the offroad course there told me it was named after the African tribe. Think they said that on Top Gear too

I'm too old to remember now LOL

Yeah Really lol
It was back in 2008 when visiting the Autostadt, paid to do the Touareg off road driving course and the instructor was curious why an Englishman had travelled all the way to Wolfsburg to look at VWs..

Got talking and turned out he was a lifelong VW nut, asked him about the wind naming thing and he rattled them all off even the obscure ones like Vento, Corrado and Jetta, according to him and a tour guide in the zuffenhausen the Touareg was named after the German translation for the saharan wind that travels rather like the nomadic tuareg tribe does I'd imagine..?

If they keep it up it might not be long till the Australia market launch of the 'doctor'
