Loss of power :(
« on: December 24, 2013, 05:32:28 pm »
Coming home tonight, gave it a bit up the slip road, but not really going felt like the Turbo had died.

In the summer I replaced a faulty Throttle Body for a Q version which had a similar feel when it went, but also gave an EPC light on the dash.

Has a diet of Super unleaded, recently a few tanks of V-Power
I've checked the Petrol cap is on tight.
Spark plugs are fairly new around 2 months.
PCV test would suggest ok (but perhaps not).
DV was swapped in the Summer to Rev G.

Car picks up when Turbo boosts but then kind of dies and very flat after around 3kRPM.

I've run a complete scan and it returns no error codes at all.

Any suggestions? :happy2:

EDIT: Forgot to mention Cam Follower swapped in the summer also.

No stored fault codes you say?

You may have to live log the car to check at minimum boost, timing, fuel rail and lpfp pressure to help shed some light on what's happening.
Without traction power is nothing!

Yeah mate, was really expecting some sort of error code but clean as a whistle... hmm.

I thought it maybe clutch, but it's totally different, the revs don't rise quickly at all, everything just slows down after 3k'ish. Leaky or not getting the fuel, but I would've assumed some sort of error code for either... bah.

Thanks for the recommendation, I was going to do a live log, but couldn't remember where it was in VCDS, so will have a look after Santa has been. :happy2:

Haven't had a chance to live log yet, but had a quick shifty from around the bonnet today (before the usual distractions)... looks like the nearside intercooler pipe isn't completely butted up, about 1/2inch away from being square and seated up - could this be the reason?

Absolutely, boost leak from anywhere can lead to varying degrees of power loss.

I had a similar issue with mine mate, plant your foot then around 3-4K it was is if the turbo stalls then picks up again once you've let off the throttle? Plugged my eddy in and it showed multiple misfire on all 4 cylinders !  :jumping: sh*t my pants to be honest.

Vw done multiple tests to see what was up with it as in theory the car should even start! They tested for compression, timing, smoke test, physically checked all the hoses and everything was done up tight lol and my issue was fueling, I had a cracked fuel pump and a shot fuel control unit.

I replaced my fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter and fuel control unit. (Cost was quite a bit)
Ever since I've had no issues at all what so ever even when driving hard.

Don't panic and think that's what's wrong with mine, just my story lol

Good luck mate hope it's something daft

Well, I took all the underbody plastics off today (have a slight knock that I'm trying to solve and wanted to rule out knocking plastics), top and bottom arch liners and undertray... took the IC pipes off, cleaned them up and re-attached, whilst I was at it, took a look at the DV for tears, bearing in mind I replaced this at the end of the summer for a brand new Rev. G (probably covered 5k miles)...:

 :rolleye:

Can't believe it has torn in such a small amount of time and mileage... however, I'm glad this is the reason and not Turbo.

It's all gone back together until I grab a new DV.

Thanks for the input! :happy2:

Do these have any sort of warranty?  Pretty damn poor to fail so soon.

Lame... a little 250bhp / 290lb K03

I'm contemplating the GFB DV+, but the price of it is annoying me TBH... anyone have one for sale?
