MOT very soon

So I have booked my MOT in for the 27th December at Halfords Auto Centre. It was the cheapest I could find. Should I be concerned? Anyway, I have the US DRLs on my front indicators (this means they glow 50% all the time). This looks cool, but I have been told this MAY fail the MOT. Is this true?

Mine went through ok earlier this year but mine are only set at 1%.

My friends failed on 30%
Mine passed on 30%

50% is too bright IMO.

Technically they are legal. Yellow/Amber lights are allowed at the front of your vehicle. The indicators must flash correctly.
It's just if the MOT place doesn't understand things.

I assume you cannot just de-activate them for the MOT?

It was done via VagCom or VCDS or whatever it is called. I don't have that.

I had my mot done by my local halfords autocenter last month and I too have indicators set as DRL's

Mine are set at 25% and it passed no problem.

As for the service... It was professional and they were the cheapest around if booked on line.

What is the reason for them failing?? Never heard about a car failing mot for having to bright front side lights/Drls

There is no reason for them failing.
My mate had his done at VW and think they failed it because they didn't know what it was more than anything, to be honest.

The problem you may face is the same as if you went to a main dealer. It will fail for something that comes down to the assessors opinion. So if it does check it yourself too

Mine flew through with them at 20%. Tester said I should increase the percentage as it was too subtle!

BMW did a free mot last year for a friends car and failed it on things that should have passed and been warned on to get the work. She spent nearly £250. Cheap mot
