70k Edition 30 Cam Follower pics
« on: December 27, 2013, 12:20:12 am »
Changed follower today (Yes, did it myself in end! Easy!!)

Thought I'd upload a pic as it was in pretty good knick! I was expecting it to be worse as there's nothing in my history of it being done!?

Changed it out any way along with HPFP seal even though the follower only just starting to wear slightly. (slight halo on coating)

Op. Yours looks knackered. Not many miles left in it before it totally failed.

If the surface of the follower looks concave then the cam that sits on it will be overloaded on the outside edges, check the new one more regularly.

I should really check mine :/

I agree with Shaw on this one  :scared:

Don't think it would have lasted much longer Gman.

My first one it changed look like this.....

It had some wear mainly on the inside....

The next 3 cam followers changed have been almost brand new when removed.  :happy2:

I'm thinking of doing mine myself soon. What's VW's position on this? Last time I got it serviced with dealer I asked and they said 'If its not on the VW notes to do it, I doesn't need to be done'?? Same vain when I ask about the DV, I get a blank stare and a 'this guy's been googling things' face.

Yeah, I ordered the PCV, DV and cam-follower. Apparently I was the first person to EVER do so. They gave me weird looks too, but all needed changing and power increase from the shot DV was insane.

OP's CF was in need of a new one for sure. They need to be replaced when the cam lobe has begun wearing through the coating.
