My front bumper is slightly scratched as is my alloy, damage rather minor so told the guy its cheaper for me to not claim and sort it myself than to put in a claim. Fast forward 3 days and his insurance company, or the owner of the lease car has got in touch with me saying they accept liability and that they will repair my car and give me a curtesy car FOC and I dont have to contact my insurance. Suppose they will respray my front bumper which is peddle dashed with stone chips. Not sure what they will do with the alloy, maybe refurb, but im gonna get them to put the car on the jig as the guy drove head on into my alloy albeit at low speed.

So my outcome is not too bad apart from the hassle of it all.

On the way to Denmark last Friday, I managed both an accident - I rear-ended someone - and then the car had a coilpack failure 150 miles later...  :rolleye: :rolleye: :rolleye:

Some old numpty pulled out of a side street trying to nip into the stream of traffic (60mph zone) on Friday morning.  I stamped on the anchors, but I'm still gaining at a rapid rate of knots!  But just when I think I might get away with it he decides to brake test me because obviously he thinks I'm too close to him...I've already locked up by this point so not exactly in a position to drop back any further!  Result...I hit the back of him at about 10mph, cracking the grill and putting a slight crease in the bumper!!!

He got out of his car looked at his back bumper and proceeded to get back in and prepared to drive off.  So I hop out and open up his door.  He maintained there was "plenty of room" despite the fact we've just collided and then said I flashed my lights to let him out!!!  Fooking fuming but not much I can do as its his word against mine!  Going to cost £300-£400 to put right.  Grill assembly is costing £130 in itself!

Any independent witnesses?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

No!   He was the second of two cars to pull out, but the first car was out of sight by the time it happened.  And this is what really annoys me, there was a clear road behind me so there was no need for him to even chance it!

Insurance company will most likely side with you on this one mate, unless of course he lies to his insurance company and says he didnt pull out of the side road at all, but was travelling from the same route as you.

That is my thinking also, plus with no witnesses I'm not going to pursue it.   :sad1:

Yes that is true, but if someone pulls out from a junction and you go into them then usually 95% of the time the person who pulled out is at fault.

Insurance scammers have been known to flash people telling them its k to pull out and ten proceed to crash into them.

But without any witnesses the guy can easily enough just lie.
