Somethings wrong...
« on: January 02, 2014, 10:13:14 am »
Hi all,

Having done a few mods over the holiday period, i've noticed that the motor isn't running at it's best anymore  :ashamed: Before i undo the work i would like your inputs please!

Symptoms: Lacking in power during acceleration, feels sort of inconsistent acceleration (as if TC was kicking in, but it's not). Engine management light flashed at me for a few seconds during accel this morning and then extinguished.

Recent Mods
: Forge Re-Circulation valve
                      ITG/VWR air intake

Seemed to start when the intake was fitted but could be a co-incidence of course.

Any advice would be great thanks!  :happy2:

Rule out your new mods... Put the OEM air box back on and test, if ok, replace DV for standard and test.  Most likely a boost leak somewhere... A scan may reveal this.

MAF contamination from new filter or MAF damage when fitting?

Really needs scanning to see if the fuel mixture is all over the place

Well my fuel economy has reduced by about 1/4 since fitting them but i put that down to just the 'testing' phase!

I'll try and run a scan tonight!

Possible air leaks?
Give it a scan as well and see what the engine management light was as well.

so i got around to running a scan on her; there was 2 errors on the engine:

Code 008801 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction (RossTech http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/18693/P2261/008801)
Code 000771 - Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected (Rosstech http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/16687/P0303/000771)

Would you expect to see the PCV error after meddling with the induction and recirc valve?

I wonder whether the other is caused by the first?

 :sad1:

thanks all

Top one is your DV.

Second one would probably be plugs or coilpacks.

Fix the first then do logs for cylinder misfire. Swap the plug into another cylinder and the coilpack into a different one and redo the logging.  :happy2:

5 minute reply - that's why i love this forum  :happy2:

Weird because i can hear the Forge DV working - maybe the engine management just doesn't like it.

btw i've got a superchips remap on it - would that have any effect do you think?

...It's going to be a busy day of removing/swapping and testing tomorrow!
